There was a lot of things going for DarkShip Thieves and a lot of things not. While she rubbed me wrong initially, Thena eventually sucked me in and I enjoyed seeing her world through her eyes. I liked the different ideas that Hoyt had as to what a future earth would look like. The romance was fantastic, but that wasn't something I was worried about considering Hoyt's background. The thing that I really didn't like was the endless pontificating about our political situation in modern times going on in internal monologues/lectures that the characters were giving each other. I know that's par for the course with a Baen book but it really made very little sense in context. A really good writer can make me see their political point with out killing my suspension of disbelief.
