For Darkness Shows the Stars - Diana Peterfreund For Darkness Shows the Stars is a lovely book. Elliot is strong and interesting, with the choices she makes so real. Kai maybe a little less so, but he pulls through at the end. I hoped I would love Stars when I heard about it. Of all of Austen's books Persuasion is the one I might be tempted to call favorite. I do feel like this version suffered due to the extreme downshift in the characters ages. Not enough for me to not enjoy it, though. I'm glad that someone who loved this story as much as I do had the talent to write such an excellent homage to it that could stand completely on it's own.
