I really wanted to love Simon Canderous. It just didn't happen. With a strange mixture of serious and snark the story proceeded. The reality of what was happening was horrifying, yet the tone of the characters is slapstick. It left me feeling disjointed. The characterization was just as uneven as the tone, leaving me unsure of how to describe almost all the characters. The male characters were better then the female characters (or charaiactures) but neither sex was exempt. When I got to the last hundred pages and was still having to force myself to keep going I knew it was time to wrap this one up.
