Splintered - A.G. Howard Why does a four star average book with a luscious world captured between it's pages drive me to DNF? Really weak characterization. At first Alyssa seems push-the-boundaries awesome and her worries about her families Wonderland curse intriguing. Then enters a boy, who is completely perfect in an overbearing alpha way. Then comes guilt over how everything with her mom's much vaunted insanity is really in relation to Alyssa, instead of things completely outside Alyssa's control. Then comes another boy, who just might be shady..... Watching Alyssa turn from someone who might be interesting into a series of YA plot tropes was embarrassing and depressing. I'm now really annoyed. Hopefully Glass Heart is better then this or I'll be in a book funk all day!
