The Rook - Daniel O'Malley Once again a cover completely bamboozled me. I took one look at The Rook and was completely unimpressed. It looked very serious. Turns out it's a screwball urban fantasy that made me laugh out loud. Definitely worth the read. I really enjoyed how O'Malley brought in so many different elements about his supernatural secret service and made them seem blase. It made all the shenanigans hilarious. One thing that stood out was something I was initially worried about. Daniel is a guy, his heroine Myfanwy is a woman. Turns out Myfanwy is very well done. Take that all the people who are swearing authors should stick to their own gender!
