I'm not sure what I expected from Noughts and Crosses but it sure wasn't what I got. Malorie Blackman made me challenge basic assumptions. That's good, but it's also uncomfortable. I think that this is an excellent book to help teens understand race relations. It's sad in a relentless sort of way, refusing to flinch at the truths that it holds under it's microscope. I suspect that I will think of it often, in all ways.
